Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Chloe Schmidt, and I’m a primary French Immersion teacher in Victoria, BC.

To tell you a bit about myself, I grew up Tsawwassen, a small town with an incredible sense community. I enjoy being outside, as well as spending time with family and friends. I chose to pursue teaching as I have a passion for building relationships, especially with children. I am truly inspired by their active imaginations and creativity, and love how such a job is not limited in ways of encouraging individual growth and learning!

I designed this platform as a space to document my learning from the CONT938 course: Language Fundamentals. My focus is sharing what I wish I knew about literacy prior to my first year teaching, which I just completed. I job-shared 3 different classrooms – 2 Grade 4 French Immersion classes, and 1 English Kindergarten class. I am grateful to have learned from a variety of teachers throughout this experience, and to have explored how literacy can be structured differently for both younger and older learners.
